Pekanbaru (CatraMedia.com) – Universitas Persada Bunda Indonesia (UPBI) held a briefing and farewell ceremony for prospective graduates of the 2024/2025 academic year on Thursday 13 November at the UPBI Campus Hall. The event, themed “Reflecting on My Journey”, gathered around 300 students from all faculties and was held in two sessions.
University leaders, including the rector, vice rectors, deans, and heads of study programs, attended the ceremony. The event marked a significant moment for students as they prepared to complete their academic journey and transition into professional life.
Committee chair Nanik Yuzalmi, SE, MM explained that the theme encouraged students to reflect on their achievements and challenges throughout their studies.
“This theme represents the transition from university life to the professional world. We hope our graduates carry professionalism and uphold the name of UPBI wherever they go,” she said. She added that UPB will conduct a tracer study six months after graduation to assess alumni career progress and the relevance of their job placements.
Vice Rector II, Dr Hj Agustin Basriani SE, MM, expressed appreciation for the persistence shown by students. “This briefing serves as an initial preparation before they enter the workforce. We expect UPBI graduates to keep growing and become a source of pride for the university,” she stated. She also highlighted the achievements of outstanding alumni such as Defri, who balanced academic and non academic accomplishments.

The university presented two speakers for the briefing session: Dr Lenny Armiyati. SPsi, MSi and Maulina Annisa SPsi, MPsi. Lenny underscored the importance of mindset, self image, and social skills in shaping a professional career.
“Career success is not determined solely by academic performance. It is also shaped by how we think, behave, and interact with others,” she explained. She also reminded students to be cautious in using social media. “Your online activity forms part of your professional identity today,” she said.
In her session, Maulina Annisa discussed the contrast between the work ethics of fresh graduates and experienced professionals. “New graduates must understand communication ethics, attitude, and appearance during recruitment. Those already working need to master communication with supervisors and colleagues,” she noted. She added that career paths do not always align with academic majors.
“Many people work outside their field of study, and through that experience they sometimes discover what they truly enjoy.”
Students responded enthusiastically, asking questions on job readiness and career challenges. One student from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Defri, said the session provided valuable reflection.
“Success comes from effort and confidence. UPBI has offered strong support in both academic and non academic development,” he said.
A student from the Faculty of Literature shared similar sentiments. “I am grateful for the support of my family and lecturers. Reaching this stage feels meaningful and rewarding,” she said.
A law student also expressed relief after completing years of study, saying, “The struggle was worth it. I am thankful for everyone who supported me.”
The event concluded with a message from the UPBI Media Team encouraging graduates to remain committed to integrity and continuous growth. “Graduation is not the end of the journey but the beginning of a new chapter in real life,” the closing statement read.
The ceremony marked the end of academic life for UPBI students and the beginning of their transition into the professional world.
